After our time in Edinburgh, we traveled by car into the Highlands where we spent the majority of our time. It’s hard to describe the beauty of this region, particularly in the fall. A colorful array of leaves were on display around every corner. By renting a car, we were able to have maximum flexibility in touring the Highlands (read: stopping for photo opps). I’ve shared our itinerary below which was heavily based on Rick Steve’s 10-day driving tour. With the exception of Iona (the ferry wasn’t running the day we planned to go because of choppy water), we visited each of these places that are all worth seeing. Our time in Isle of Skye felt rushed, and I would recommend adding on a few more days in order to see more of the beautiful countryside.
