Location: Vienna, Austria
Austria has been on my list of places to visit for a long time <insert my love for the Sound of Music>. There is a certain elegance and opulence about Vienna that draws you in. The architecture is majestic with beautiful, historic buildings covering every inch of the city. It reminds me of a concentrated version of Paris. Being that Vienna is the epicenter of classical music, we took advantage of the 15 euro standing tickets to the opera. Definitely worthwhile!
Ulla Johnson, a native of Manhattan, founded her eponymous line of clothing in 2000, inspired by the streets of New York as well as her family’s travels abroad. Throughout the years, she has remained consistent and meticulous in basing each of her collections on a “foundation of natural fibers, beautiful finishing, and ease of fit and form.” I’m truly inspired by her clothing and highly recommend investing in one of her pieces. The shirt I’m wearing is a mix of cotton and linen dyed naturally using plants. The bow adds the perfect amount of femininity I look for in my sartorial expression.
I purchased my top at the local Richmond store, Verdalina. Unfortunately, it is no longer available; however, the store regularly carries the Ulla Johnson brand. Deborah, owner of Verdalina, has curated a beautiful selection of thoughtfully made clothing brands. In fact, her store only carries brands that are ethical, transparent, or sustainable. A few Ulla Johnson pieces that I’m currently loving are this, this, this, and this. Similar items to the piece (in terms of color and fabric) I’m wearing, can be found here, and here.
