Location: Savannah, Georgia
While driving to Florida for the holidays, we decided to spend a couple of nights in Savannah to break up the trip. Fortunately for us, this charming location is a midpoint from Richmond to Tampa. As someone who grew up in the South (Louisiana), I have an appreciation for the hospitality, cuisine, and sartorial expression that is common in many Southern cities. Savannah is no exception. The historic district is one of the most charming places in the U.S.
To experience Southern hospitality at its finest, I recommend staying at a Bed & Breakfast. We stayed at the Eliza Thompson House and were thoroughly impressed with the accommodations and service. Not only do they provide a delicious breakfast, but they also serve complimentary wine, hors d’oeuvres, and dessert in the evening! Savannah also offers free public transportation in the Historic Area making it convenient to get from Forsyth Park down to the Riverfront area. Below I’ve included a list of things to do if you are planning a weekend visit.
