Back in December, my husband and I spent a night away from bébé at the lovely Greenbrier Resort. Neither of us needed or wanted any gifts for Christmas so we opted for a relaxing getaway for the two of us. The Greenbrier, nestled in the mountains of West Virginia, has roots that date back to 1778. And once you step foot in the hotel, you are transported to a different era. The decor emulates nostalgia (think 50’s retro), reminding me of my late grandmother. Fun fact: there is a declassified Bunker that you can tour while on the property. It was originally built as an emergency Cold War shelter for members of Congress.
Although I completely overpacked for an overnight visit, I chose to wear a vintage ensemble. It seemed fitting given the retro vibe of the Greenbrier. Not to mention, I love the 50’s fashion era (and probably the only thing I love about that time period.) I purchased this dress right before I found out I was pregnant and have been waiting for an opportunity to wear it. Recently, I have started collecting vintage clip-on earrings and found these at a local store called Bygones. Another place to find beautifully curated vintage jewelry online is Sweet and Spark. What I love about statement clip-ons is that don’t weigh your ears down like pierced earrings often can. The clutch is a vintage piece that came from my late mother-in-law. She had such lovely taste, and I’m incredibly thankful to have several pieces as a memento of her.
PS – I’m sure you’ll see this dress reappear around Valentine’s Day
